Holiday Style and Mean Girls in DC

I hope everyone’s week is off to a good start! It’s always a struggle to go back to school or work after a long holiday weekend (especially one filled with pumpkin pie). But at least it is now officially the Christmas season, and that makes everything better!

tuckernuck blanket scarfThis cozy outfit is perfect for the holiday season. This blanket scarf from Tuckernuck is one of my favorites. It’s from a few years ago, and they don’t seem to have it anymore, but I found a really similar one here (and it’s less than $15!). Tuckernuck is also where I got my Barbour coat, which I absolutely adore. If you’re in Georgetown, they actually have a little store where you can see some of their items in person at 1053 Wisconsin Ave NW. It is as adorable (and as lust-worthy) as you would imagine.

Check out some similar looks below!

In addition to plenty of (online) Black Friday shopping and lots and lots of stuffing and pie, I managed to make it out to see the new Mean Girls Musical! Tina Fey wrote it and her husband composed the music. Previews on Broadway start March 18, but it’s currently doing a pre-run before it’s Broadway premiere here in DC at the National Theater. It was so cool to get to see what will be the original Broadway cast at the very start of their run.
Mean Girls MusicalIt’s always hard to remake a story so well-known, especially when Rachel McAdams and Lindsey Lohan and Amanda Seyfried and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey are absolute perfection in the movie. But even with those high standards going in, I thought the cast was incredible! Not only were they insanely talented singers and dancers, but they were all hilarious. (Also, the guy who played Aaron Samuels, looked just like Aaron Samuels. I don’t know how they cloned him and taught him how to sing, but it appears that’s what happened). They all get major kudos for taking such well-known characters and making them their own while still keeping everything that made us love them (or hate them) to begin with. Because the songs aren’t out yet and there’s no Broadway recording yet, I went in having no clue what to expect, which was a fun way to see a show. I actually can’t remember the last time I saw a musical without knowing at least some of the songs! I heard that they may try and add another song before it hits Broadway, but it all seemed pretty Broadway-ready to me!
Also, I cannot finish this post without celebrating the engagement of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle!!! I am a major, major fan of the Royals and Royal Weddings (#sorrynotsorry) and I cannot wait for all the pomp and circumstance!! I stayed up way too late last night watching their joint interview here. So adorable!
