It may be September now, but I’m not putting away my seersucker dresses just yet!
As you can see, I’m still holding on to summer over here for as long as I can!
While it seems like so many stores (and bloggers!) have jumped headfirst into fall, I’m still savoring the last few weeks of warm weather. There will be plenty of time for apple-picking, pumpkin spice lattes, and flannel later on, but for now, I’m sticking with my seersucker, and trying to get as much wear out of this adorable seersucker dress as possible!
One of the best parts about the beginning of September is that it’s still warm enough to wear all of your favorite summer dresses, and they’re all on a massive sale. This dress is less than $60.00 now– almost $100 off the original price! It’s such a classic piece, I know I’ll be wearing it for spring and summers to come. I opted for the classic blue, but it also comes in a really pretty light pink.
Seersucker is such a classic pattern. I’ve seen quite a few seersucker suits on the DC streets this past summer, and I remember seeing a lot when I was interning on the Hill– I credit it to all the Southern states. It’s a bold choice to make in a city that is filled with buttoned-up lawyers and lobbyists and politicians who usually try their best to blend in, but that’s part of why it’s so fun!
Also, how fun is this hat? I’m so glad big straw hats are coming back. I think they’re so great and add such a touch of glamour to any outfit!
This was the first weekend in awhile that I’ve been able to just rest. I’ve been traveling so much these last two months, which has been great, but a part of me is very relieved that the next few weekends I don’t have anything planned except some much-needed rest and relaxation. Though I’m bummed that wedding and vacation season is over, I think my body will appreciate the extra sleep (and a break from vacation food!)
This hat and straw clutch were actually finds from my recent trip. I bought this clutch at a cute little shop in Ibiza Town. I’m still recapping my trip, and I promise I’ll get to Ibiza soon! Ibiza Town was unexpectedly quaint and historic. I guess I just imagined a town filled with nightclubs, so I was pleasantly surprised to find that it had more of a Mykonos-feel to it!
I’m hoping to take advantage of this gorgeous weather by spending as much time as possible outside. I’ve been eager to get on the water this summer and go kayaking, and there are a lot of great options in the DC area, but in July and August it can get too hot to be outside all day in the sun. September is the perfect time to get out on the water and just relax.
Maybe I’ll be ready to embrace fall in a few weeks (after all, I do love anything pumpkin flavored…), but for now I plan to soak up these last few weeks of summer!
In addition to this dress, I’ve linked to a few other cute seersucker finds. My shoes were a Nordstrom Rack find a few summers ago, but I’ve linked some similar styles for those, too, below!
