Apple Picking in October

Last weekend I went apple picking at Milburn Orchards in Maryland. On the weekends in the fall they have an entire fall festival running, with pumpkins and corn mazes and a petting zoo and ALL THE FALL TREATS. I’m talking apple cider donuts, apple cider funnel cake, apple cider slushies…. the list just goes on and on.

Apple PickingIt was such a beautiful day to be outside. It finally felt a bit cooler and actually felt like fall for a change (now it’s back to the 80s- but I’m not complaining! #alwayscold). Being outside in the sunshine after being in the office all week long is so restorative. Apple PickingWe rode on a little wagon over to the orchards and were able to wander around and pick apples to our hearts’ content! I’ve only been apple picking a few times before, both in Rhode Island, so this was the first time I’d been to this orchard. I would highly recommend it if you find yourself up near Baltimore!Apple PickingRed Delicious all day, every day.

My skirt and top are from last year, but I linked a few lookalikes below! My trusty Bean Boots were the perfect shoes for wandering around the dusty orchards. I wear these shoes for all sorts of weather and I adore them. The lower boot is also great because it makes it a lot easier to walk around in. I’ve worn them in blizzards before and they’ve never let me down!

Apple Picking

Apple PickingThere were so many apples on the trees! The last time I went apple picking it was toward the end of the season so the trees were much barer. This time, you couldn’t take a step without hitting some apples! Because the fall season starts later here than in New England, I bet there are still apples to pick all the way through October and into November, so there’s still time to get your apple picking on!Apple PickingCute little baby apple!

Apple Picking Apple Picking Apple PickingIt’s a good thing that I spent time wandering around the orchards, because I ended up eating so many fall treats and I needed to do something to burn it all off!

Apple PickingThere was a corn maze there as well- so many fun fall activities!

Apple Picking Apple PickingThey also had a petting zoo there, where you could buy food and feed the animals. They had the most adorable baby goats there! I was able to pet them and feed them and they were so incredibly soft! I don’t know how their hair stays so fluffy, but I was dying over their cuteness! I wanted to just pick one up and take it with me! The little goat family is almost too much cuteness to handle.Apple PickingHow adorable is this pumpkin house? I loved all the fall decor and the effort the farm made to create such a fun spot to grab pumpkins and enjoy the beautiful October weather!Apple PickingSipping on my hot apple cider, surrounded by pumpkins, wearing flannel…. If this is wrong I don’t want to be right.Apple Picking Apple PickingOf course we had to stop at their apple cider donut stand and grab several of these delicious, sugary treats! Apple cinnamon is one of my favorite flavors, and you can never go wrong with a warm, donut straight out of the over. These did not disappoint.

Megan and I were in autumnal dessert heaven!

Apple PickingOne last close up before I devoured this bad boy!

I ended up leaving the orchard not only with my apples, but also with apple butter, apple cider, apple cake mix…. etc. Obviously they’ve found my weakness!

Anyone else know of any fun orchards in the DC area? I’m looking into a few in Virginia for next weekend!
