October 2014
The Head of the Charles came to Cambridge once again and it was as lovely as always! HOTC is a weekend rowing competition on the Charles River featuring colleges and alumni boats and local teams. It looks a little cloudy, but it was actually super warm and it felt amazing to walk around in shorts and a t-shirt all day long. October is one of the prettiest months in Boston and HOTC seems to always catch it at its most perfect. It makes me wish I knew how to row so badly. I would take lessons if the Charles wasn’t frozen for most of the school year! Maybe 3L….
HOTC covers a huge stretch of Boston/ Cambridge (and we know because we walked all over most of it!). This is a view from one of the bridges in Cambridge. You can see the dome of one of the undergrad houses rising up behind the trees.

We stopped inside the Harvard boathouse on our way down the river, which was really cool to see. It was like something out of the 1920s, some old boy’s club frozen in time. I love the little bits of Harvard that transport you back in time.

There’s so much going on all across the banks of the Charles, it’s really impossible to see it all in one day. I head that the Kiel James Patrick team would be at the Brooks Brothers tent, and as a major fan of their blog and company, I was hoping to be able to see their team in action. Imagine my surprise running into Sarah Vickers at their tent!
Super chic as always!
The KJP team was also making bracelets in the tent all day. I tried semi-surreptitiously to snap this picture of them in action. When I saw the photo I was legitimately amazed at how much they looked like they were on a magazine shoot or something. If only I could look that photo-ready in candids!
Beautiful day by the water. (Also notice the duck on the right. I love how the ducks don’t let the races stop them from enjoying their river haha).

Michael even found a guitar display at HOTC. He had to test out some of them before we left!

But the very, very best part of the day was seeing my lovely, sweet, wonderful roommate from college! We had the nicest time catching up, spending the day together, and hitting up Aeronaut and Union Brass in Somerville that night. Miss the days of living in our cute little house together so much!
